PRIMARY COURSES Primary Design and Technology D&T Association / TDA Extended Course - LONDON
This course is aimed at Co-ordinators or those with a particular interest in the teaching and managing of Design and Technology in primary schools. This is an accredited course (the minimum requirement to obtain the D&T Association certificate), and on the successful completion of two assignments set (both the equivalent of about 5000 words), participants will receive a “Post-graduate Certificate in Education” from Birmingham City University. This is the equivalent of 60 points towards an MA. It is possible to transfer these points to other universities. One assignment is a compulsory element for the funding requirements from the TDA. There is NO COST for this course to participants or participating schools, but supply cover must be found by the school. Tuition and registration fees for 30-points (compulsory assignment) are provided by the D&T Association. SECONDARY COURSES Health and Safety – Machine Workshops 15th & 16th December and 30th March 2009 This 3-day course aims to give participants instruction on health and safety legislation as it applies to school workshops, and covers the risk assessments necessary for the use of machine tools in teaching Design and Technology in secondary schools. The course requires participants to undertake a pre-course audit of needs and capabilities. The course will include:
Certification will be in accordance with the D&T Association competencies and BS4263/2000. This three-day course will be held at Goldsmiths College, New Cross, University of London on 15th and 16th December 2008, and 30th March 2009. Course Tutors:
